Pakistani actor Meesha accused singer-actor Ali Zafar of sexual harassment in a Facebook post on Thursday. The 36-year-old Meesha took to social media to express her feelings. She said that Ali Zafar had harassed her multiple times and posted on a lead in social media website, “Sharing this because I believe that by speaking out about my own experience of sexual harassment, I will break the culture of silence that permeates through our society. It is not easy to speak out..but it is harder to stay silent. My conscience will not allow it anymore #MeToo”.
The talented singer-actor Ali Zafar has given us some memorable cinematic moments however the latest comes in as a shock for all his fans as Pakistani Singer Meesha Shafi accuses the actor-singer of sexual misconduct multiple times.
#Metoo movement that initially started in the states had women post about their experiences about sexual misconduct. It got heavyweights like Harvey Weinstein, Mario Testino, Bruce Weber etc to be publicly shamed; this hashtag has been trending across the world as women in prominent positions are allegedly exposing sexual predators in the industry. This campaign has given birth to a movement that can be seen reaching east as well.
Ali Zafar has worked in Bollywood movies like Tere Bin Laden, Dear Zindagi, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan etc.

Okay before everyone loses it and calls for Ali Zafar’s death, please remember that predators ought to be taken into therapy. Please raise awareness about mental health problems instead of calling for chemical castration. Thanks.

You know what upsets me: men like Ali Zafar will continue to get work, their movies will continue to release and eventually something like this will only be something people discuss in their houses leading to the normalisation of sexual harassment in the work place.

As part of Pakistan’s entertainment industry for more than a decade, I can assure you if other women in Pakistan Entertainment industry starts to come out with their stories, there will be < 10% men left to work with. #MeeshaShafi #AliZafar

Ali Zafar? That dude who’s a youth icon, one of Pak’s biggest stars?
Brave of Meesha to actually name the guy who allegedly (I use the term in all cases where only one side speaks)harassed her.
Now over to Ali. Whether we believe it or not, the other side has a right to speak too— Mehr Tarar (@MehrTarar) April 19, 2018
I mean who wants to be in the limelight and be abused by countless men and women who have internalized patriarchy? Meesha Shafi doesn’t owe any explanation to anybody but shes doing the rest of us a favour by warning us of Ali Zafar’s behavior #MeeshaShafi #MeToo #AliZafar
