This self-made star rejected Karan Johar’s blockbuster film and even his three-film contract deal on his father’s advice. He later made a magnificent debut alongside Ranveer Singh in Gully Boy. We are talking about none other than Siddhanth Chaturvedi. Born on April 29, 1993 in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, Siddhanth moved to Mumbai with his family when he was just 5. The actor was always keen towards theatre and used to love participating in college plays.

After winning a fresh face popular contest, Siddhanth quit his CA final exams to pursue his passion in acting. He started giving auditions and even cracked Karan Johar and Ayan Mukerji’s directorial Brahmastra. But, he refused the fantasy action film after listening to his father’s advice. He even rejected the three-film contract with Johar’s Dharma Productions.

During a conversation with Humans of Bombay, Siddhanth revealed that how his father was against him signing Brahmastra. The actor said, “They were still writing the script, and I was excited. I could have done it as well, but my father wouldn’t have let me. ‘You are better than this,’ he says, even till today he pushes me. I was elated that I will be getting a three-film contract with Dharma. I met Ayan, who showed me his vision of Brahmastra. I had only done a handful of ads by then, so I was a nobody. I told my father the film has Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan and he asked me, ‘Toh tujhe kaun dekhega (so, who will notice you)?’ He said, ‘Nahi beta, I don’t think you should do it. Do you have the script, have you auditioned for it? If you don’t even know what you are going to do in that film, don’t sell your destiny.”

Eventually, Siddhant made his Bollywood debut in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy, in which he impressed masses and critics with his tremendous performance as MC Sher. The actor won several awards for his debut performance in 2019-released musical drama. The film went on to be a critical and commercial success, grossing Rs 235 crore worldwide.

The 31-year-old actor since appeared in the romantic drama Gehraiyaan alongside Deepika Padukone and Ananya Panday, as well as in a new-age film Kho Gaye Hum Kahn on Netflix. Siddhant is reportedly in talks to collaborate with Rajneeti director Prakash Jha for his upcoming political love story. There are ongoing reports suggesting that Chaturvedi is likely to play the lead in the upcoming biopic of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh.
