Meet actor who started acting in 1960, gave a blockbuster at 70, married twice, and is still alone; His name is...

The first Pan-India superstar began his acting career in 1960 when cinema was still in its early stages. As a child actor, he worked not only in Hindi films but also in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Bengali cinema. He didn’t just act in these films but also took the time to learn the language and culture of each region to give his best performances. Along with regional languages, he also learned English and French, making him India’s first multi-language star. Active for nearly 65 years, he is now 70 years old and continues to deliver hit films even at an age when most would consider retirement.

This child, who once had an innocent smile, has now become one of the most celebrated superstars in the industry. Over his long and illustrious career, he has acted in more than 200 films. Even after ruling the industry for over six decades, his personal life tells a different story – despite two marriages, he couldn’t achieve the same success in his relationships. This child in the picture is none other than Kamal Haasan.

Kamal Haasan started his career as a child actor in the 1960 Tamil film Kalathur Kannamma. In 1975, he gained recognition with Pattampoochi and later made his Bollywood debut in 1981 with Ek Duuje Ke Liye. His Hindi films Chachi 420 and Indian are among his most successful.

Apart from being a brilliant actor, he is also a director, screenwriter, producer, and playback singer. He married twice, but both marriages ended in divorce.

Kamal Haasan’s first love was actress Srividya, a well-known star in the 1970s. They worked together in several films and fell in love. Their families approved of their relationship, but destiny had other plans, and they eventually separated.

In 1978, at the age of 24, Kamal married classical dancer Vani Ganapathy. Their marriage lasted for ten years before they divorced in 1988.

After his separation from Vani, Kamal began a relationship with actress Sarika. They lived together before getting married in 1988, and their first daughter, Shruti Haasan, was born in 1986. In 1991, they welcomed their second daughter, Akshara Haasan.

Kamal and Sarika’s relationship took a turn when he grew close to actress Gautami, who was initially Sarika’s friend. Gautami had a short-lived marriage with a businessman before her divorce. As Kamal’s bond with Gautami deepened, Sarika sensed trouble in their marriage. Eventually, in 2004, after 16 years together, Kamal and Sarika got divorced.

Despite achieving phenomenal success in his career, Kamal Haasan’s personal life has been full of ups and downs. Even after two marriages, he remains single today.

Kamal Haasan was reportedly the first Indian star to charge Rs 1.5 crore for a film. Today, his fee goes up to Rs 100 crore per film. He is also the only Indian actor whose seven films have been nominated for the Oscars – a remarkable achievement in Indian cinema. These films include Saagar, Swati Mutyam, Hey Ram, Indian, Nayakan, Kuruthipunal, and Thevar Magan.
