Many times, actors begin their acting journey on television and gradually transition to Bollywood. While some actors become instant hits in Bollywood, others face their own battles to sustain themselves in the industry. Sometimes, personal struggles hinder their professional growth, and in the blink of an eye, these actors lose their fandom and stardom. Similarly, the actress we’re talking about today is one who shared the screen with Aishwarya Rai. However, she battled depression after her movies and shows failed to succeed.

The actress in question was once one of the highest-paid TV stars and delivered several hit shows. She also had a notable presence in the South Indian film industry. She is none other than Anita Hassanandani. Though Anita made an impact in the South industry, she struggled to impress Bollywood audiences. Anita began working at the age of 16 but made her proper debut with the television serial Idhar Udhar Season 2 in 1998.

Over the next few years, Anita appeared in various TV serials, grabbing the audience’s attention. Simultaneously, she tried her luck in Bollywood. She featured in the film Taal, sharing the screen with Aishwarya Rai, although her role in the movie was brief. After Taal, Anita ventured into Telugu films, appearing in hits like Nuvvu Nenu and Varushamellam Vasantham.

However, her subsequent Bollywood projects, such as Yeh Dil, Kucch To Hai, Krishna Cottage, and Koi Aap Sa, failed to perform at the box office. The consecutive failures took a toll on Anita’s mental health, leading her to slip into depression, which impacted her acting career.

In an interview, Anita spoke about this challenging phase, revealing that she fell into depression after the failure of Koi Aap Sa. She credited Ekta Kapoor for helping her navigate through that tough period. Despite the ups and downs, Anita remains one of the highest-paid actresses on television today. She reportedly charges ₹1.5 lakh per episode and enjoys a luxurious lifestyle.
