There is an actress who started her career with back-to-back hits, but after a while, she stopped getting movie offers and decided to quit the industry.
Many actresses in Bollywood gained fame and recognition soon after their debut. However, the sooner they receive fame, the sooner they fade away. Similarly, there is an actress who started her career with back-to-back hits, but after a while, she stopped getting movie offers and decided to quit the industry. The actress we are talking about is the daughter of an Air Force Officer and has been a part of several beauty pageants. She is the one and only Esha Gupta.
Esha Gupta grabbed headlines when she took on bold roles in web series. However, one would be amazed to know that recently, the actress took a holy dip in the Ganga during Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Not only that, but the former actress also sought blessings from spiritual gurus in Kumbh.
It has been a decade since Esha entered the industry. The actress started her career in 2012 when she worked with Emraan Hashmi in the film Jannat 2. The movie was a hit, and viewers loved Esha’s performance. After this, she featured in Raaz 3, Chakravyuh, and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein. While two of her films were huge hits, her next few films were massive flops.
Esha’s only hit came in 2016 when she featured in Rustom. After a string of flops, Esha decided to quit the industry. Though she couldn’t make a lasting impact in movies, her luck shined when she transitioned to web series. She made her OTT debut with the series REJCTX, but her success on OTT came when she delivered a powerful performance in Aashram.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Esha Gupta once recalled being insulted on a movie set and how she walked off after the director hurled abuses at her.
She said, “He just said something in Hindi, and I looked at him, and he was like, ‘You are late.’ I was very calm even then because generally, I am calm. I said, ‘But I wasn’t late. I have been here before all of you, I was here before the shoot time. The outfit had an issue because it was a change, it’s not my fault.’ And he abused me again. That was enough for me. The first abuse, I was still okay with—it’s very Delhi lingo also.”
She added, “But the second time he said it, I told him the same thing back, what he said to me. I said, ‘You know what? You are this. Don’t ever talk to me like that or disrespect me.’ I literally said that and walked out from there.”
