Making it big in the world of cinema is no easy feat, however not all acclaimed actors and actresses aspired to be movie stars right from the beginning. Today we will talk about one actress who quit her IIM dreams for a flourishing film career. Can you guess who she is? Have a look!
We are talking about none other than Kajal Agarwal. Born and bought up in a Punjabi family, growing up Kajal Agarwal was not interested in becoming an actress at all. Instead, she sacrificed dreams of doing an MBA, preferably from one of the IIMS. Agarwal’s acting debut was a minor supporting role alongside Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Kyun! Ho Gaya Na.
In 2007, Kajal was cast in a lead role opposite Ram Charan in Magadheera. The SS Rajamouli directorial was the first Telugu film to enter the 100-crore club. Aggarwal has since made a name for herself as a bankable lead actress and her impressive filmography includes hits like Singham, Special 26, Govindudu Andarivadele, Khaidi No. 150, Nene Raju Nene Mantri, Thuppakki and Mersal.
Kajal became a household name after she was seen in Singham (2011) with Ajay Devgan. Later in the sequel, Agarwal was replaced by Kareena Kapoor. On this, the 39-year-old said, “I have no regrets that I am not in the sequel. The first part was beautiful and I am happy to be a part of it. I have no complains.”
Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again is the third installment in the director’s Singham series and will release on Diwali this year. Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Arjun Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Tiger Shroff are a part of this multi-starred film.
Talking about her personal life, On 30 October 2020, Kajal got married to businessman Gautam Kitchlu in a small, private ceremony in Mumbai. On 19 April, 2022, she gave a birth to a baby boy Neil. Last year, the actress also became candid about dealing with postpartum depression and acknowledged that it is a normal part of the journey for many women. During her AMA session with fans, Agarwal said that family’s support plays a crucial role during this time. She highlighted the positive impact of allocating time for oneself and engaging in activities that bring joy and relaxation. Kajal recommended, “Doing your favourite activity, a quick workout (under supervision), a quick catch up for coffee with your besties – is therapeutic!.”
