Love, marriage, and separation are not new in Bollywood industry. Many stars have walked down the aisle more than once, hoping for a lasting relationship. Some found their happily-ever-after, while others faced heartbreak again and again. One such actress, known for her talent in acting and classical dance, had an eventful love life. She married three times, twice to Hindus and once to a Muslim. Yet, despite giving love multiple chances, she remains single today.
This actress is not only a celebrated performer but also the mother of two Bollywood actors, one of whom is a superstar. Despite their different fathers, her sons share a strong bond. But who is this actress? She is none other than Neelima Azeem, a renowned actress, writer, and trained Kathak dancer. She studied the Kathak form of Indian classical dance and was trained under Birju Maharaj and Munna Shukla.
Neelima Azeem’s personal life has been as dramatic as a Bollywood film. She was a part of Television and movies. also did many historical and drama movies, Phir Wahi Talash, Amrapali, The Sword of Tipu Sultan and Junoon.
She met her first husband, actor Pankaj Kapur, at the National School of Drama when she was just 17. They fell in love and got married in 1975. In 1981, their son, Shahid Kapoor, was born. However, their marriage ended in 1984, when Pankaj decided to move on.
After her divorce, Neelima found love again with actor Rajesh Khattar. They tied the knot, and their son, Ishaan Khattar, was born. But differences in their relationship led to another divorce. Rajesh later revealed that their separation was due to a lack of compatibility.
Her third marriage was with classical singer Raza Ali Khan in 2004. But like her previous relationships, this too ended in divorce in 2009.
Despite three failed marriages, Neelima never let personal setbacks define her. She raised her sons with love and determination. Today, Shahid Kapoor is a Bollywood superstar, and Ishaan Khattar is making his mark in the industry.
