Smriti Irani’s famous TV drama Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is making a comeback on small screens with Season 2. Amid the buzz of Season 2 of the very famous daily soap, a new revelation has shocked the internet. One of the actresses who featured in Season 1 of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi opened up about being the least paid in the show. She even went on to say that the makers increased Rs 1000 in her pay during those 7 years.
While Smriti Irani was one of the known characters of the show, there were various other celebs who were an integral part of the show. Among them was Jaya Bhattacharya, who revealed that she was underpaid in the show.
In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Jaya Bhattacharya talked about her old experience while working in the serial. Jaya used to play the character of Payal Parikh in the show, and while the character was liked by the audience, Jaya felt that she was underpaid in the serial.
Jaya, in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, said, “I was the lowest paid actress. My fees were never increased. Once when I asked for a raise, my fees were increased by a thousand rupees, while the rest of the people were given a growth of two thousand rupees. This hurt my ego, and so after this, in the next 7 years, I never asked for a raise.”
When Siddharth Kannan asked if the salaries of the other actors were increased during those 7 years, Jaya said that their fees were constantly increased.
The actress added, “Oh absolutely… where have they reached from where.”
Fans are super excited about the return of this serial which entertained the audience from 2000 to 2008. Obviously, the makers have made many small and big changes in Season 2, but will this show be able to create the same magic as last time?
