Actor Kalki Koechlin is one of the finest actresses in the Bollywood industry. She made her mark in the industry with her film Dev.D (2009). In the coming years, the actress featured in several hit films, including Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011) and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013). However, do you know that her journey was not easy at all?

Kalki Koechlin was born in Pondicherry, India, on January 10, 1984, to French parents. She spent her early years in Auroville and later in Kallatty, Tamil Nadu. Later, her parents parted ways, and Kalki went to London to complete her education. During her time in London, she worked with a theatre company and later decided to move to India to pursue acting.

Over the years, Kalki became a part of several hit films. In a recent conversation on the BBC World Service Podcast – Dear Daughter, Kalki revealed, without naming the filmmaker, that she was once asked to apply fillers to her face. Kalki was furious after hearing this demand from the maker. She said that although the maker’s words did not affect her, there is a lot of pressure on young actresses to look beautiful.

Kalki said, “I remember once a producer said to me… He was talking about his ex-girlfriend, and she is a very famous actress. He was saying, ‘Oh, she overdid it with the Botox.’ And then he said, ‘All you need is some filler for your laughter lines.’ And I wanted to stab him with my fork because we were having lunch at that time. But I stopped myself.”

Despite being filled with anger, Kalki replied to the director with a smile and walked away. Further, in one of her interviews, Kalki also revealed that she was mocked for her looks by people.

Kalki was married to Anurag Kashyap, but their marriage didn’t last, leading to their separation.
