Aditi Govitrikar made history as the first Indian to win the Mrs. World title in 2021. With her mesmerising beauty, she stood out as the only Indian supermodel to hold qualifications in both medicine and psychology. A true embodiment of beauty with brains, Aditi was a sensation in the 90s. Born in Panvel, Maharashtra, Aditi was an academic achiever who went on to pursue MBBS. However, her passion for modelling pursued her take part in the Gladrags Megamodel contest and she eventually won. It marked the beginning of her successful career in the fashion world, becoming the face of numerous leading brands in several TV commercials. She became a sensation who effortlessly balanced her medical profession with a supermodel status.
On the personal front, Aditi met Muffaza, his senior in college. The two fell in love and decided to tie the knot after getting graduated. However, Aditi’s parents were against their union since he belonged to a different religion. Muffaza’s parents too, opposed their relationship.
But despite opposition from both their parents, Aditi Govitrikar and Muffazal Lakdawalla decided to get married in 1998. They married under civil and Muslim law. As a part of their interfaith marriage, Aditi converted to Islam and adopted the name Sarah Lakdawalla. The couple embraced parenthood with the birth of their daughter, Kiara, in 1999, and later welcomed their son, Zhiaan, in 2007.
After few years of marriage, there were reports that the couple was facing challenges in their marital life. They were constant fights and ego clashes between the two. In 2008, Aditi and Muffaza announced their separation, and the actress retained the custody of her kids. She is raising her children single-handedly, playing the role of both mother and father. Sharing about the same in an interview, Aditi said, “My parents used to make decisions for us together. It may be as small as deciding whether kids should go on a trip, I had to decide everything alone and play both father and mother. There was also the feeling of guilt for leaving my children with my mother or sister for work.”
Aditi is also popular for her work in films like Paheli, Baaz: A Bird in Danger, De Dana Dan, Bheja Fry 2 and more.
