Indian cinema has depicted women in variety of roles over the years, with many Bollywood actresses stepping their foot in method acting. While these actresses often face challenges in establishing themselves in the industry, some have impressed audiences with their extraordinary performances. One such actress is Tillotama Shome, who has earned recognition for her remarkable talent.
Over the years, Tillotama has carved a special place in people’s hearts and gained a huge fan following. She has earned widespread praise for establishing herself in the OTT space. The actress has appeared in some of the most popular shows, including Mentalhood, Delhi Crime, The Night Manager, Kota Factory, Lust Stories 2 and a few others.
While in New York, Tillotama Shome spent two years in Rikers Island Jail to study the human psychology of prison inmates. During her time there, she also taught theatre to several murder convicts. Talking about the same in an interview, Tillotama recalled, “I did not have any kind of training. I came with a completely clean slate. I have not gone to NSD or FTI like other artists. I worked in New York’s Riker Island Jail. It is a high-security jail for men and women. There, I worked with a female prisoner and a male prisoner for two years and to be honest, that’s where I got my acting training. I was there with students as well as prisoners at the same time. There I was able to understand not only crime but also human complexities.”
In 2015, Tillotama Shome tied the knot with Kunal Ross, son of Nita Bhaduri, Jaya Bachchan’s sister. This makes Abhishek Bachchan her brother-in-law, while Aishwarya her sister-in-law. The whole Bachchan family, including Jaya, Abhishek, Shweta, Aishwarya, and Aaradhya, attended their wedding. Interestingly, Tillotama wasn’t aware of Kunal’s connections to the Bachchans when they first began dating.
Meanwhile, Tillotama, known for her versatility, debuted in Monsoon Wedding (2001) and continued to show her impressive talent in films like Gangor, Shanghai, Angrezi Medium, and more. The actress is currently seen in Paatal Lok season 2, as ‘Meghna Barua’, a Nagaland police officer.
