If your luck plays along, you can become a millionaire, and if that luck doesn’t work in your favor, you can lose all the money you earned in a matter of seconds. Something similar happened with KBC winner Sushil Kumar. He was the first contestant in the history of the Amitabh Bachchan-led quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) to win a whopping amount of Rs 5 crore in 2011.

On his historic win, Amitabh called him the “real-life Slumdog Millionaire.” However, little did Sushil know that his life was about to change — and not for the better. He became an example of riches to rags and lost all his money. Let’s know more about Sushil Kumar.

Who is Sushil Kumar?

Sushil Kumar, 41, from Champaran, Bihar, appeared as a contestant on Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 5. He correctly answered the final question of the quiz show and won a whopping Rs 5 crore, becoming a crorepati overnight. When he was asked what he would do with the money, he expressed his desire to become an IAS officer.

However, after his big win, Sushil vanished into thin air and no one knew what he was up to. Later in 2020, he once again surfaced on social media and left people shocked.

In a social media post, he wrote, “2015-2016 was the most challenging time of my life. I was not able to understand what to do. Being a local celebrity, I used to have programs somewhere or the other in Bihar for ten to fifteen days a month. Therefore, studies gradually got sidelined. Also, at that time, I used to be very serious about the media and the media also used to ask me every few days what I was doing. For this, I used to do this business sometimes, that business sometimes without any experience so that I could tell the media that I am not useless. The result was that the business used to sink after a few days!” Not just that, he also used to sell milk to meet his daily needs.

Sushil Kumar Got Scammed

In a post, Sushil also revealed how he got scammed after winning Rs 5 crore. He wrote, “After KBC, I used to participate in about 50 thousand programs in a month. Because of this, many times people have cheated me, which I came to know about later after donating.”

Addiction to Cigarettes, Alcohol

Sushil got addicted to cigarettes and alcohol. He also tried his luck in directing but failed. Now, as per media reports, Sushil Kumar has been appointed as a government psychology teacher and currently teaches students of Class 11 and 12.
