Renowned for her abilities as an actor, singer-songwriter, and dancer, Rashi Mal is a multifaceted performer. She is a gifted musician who has also demonstrated her versatility in acting and dancing across all audio-visual platforms. Yoon Hi, Chalo and Naariyaan are the three songs from the mini album that she just released. Rashi studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy and received method acting training at the Jeff Goldberg Studio. She also received training in composition at Berklee College of Music and musical theatre from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). She spoke exclusively to India.com about working with major production houses, being digitally relevant, making the switch from TV to the big screen, and much more.

Meet Actor Rashi Mal Who Worked With Ranbir-Alia And Kajol

Rashi Mal who made her way into people’s hearts with her performance in the 2013 hit series ‘Paanch: 5 Wrong Make A Right,‘ ventured to the big screens in 2018. She played actor Riddhi Sen’s onscreen girlfriend in the ‘adventurously funny film. For those who don’t know, Kajol played an obsessive mother Eela in the film who continuously keeps a tab on her son’s activities. Written by Mitesh Shah, the movie is co-produced by Ajay Devgn and Jayantilal Gada of Pen India Ltd.

With her role in the 2013 series ‘Paanch: 5 Wrong Make A Right,’ Rashi Mal won over audiences’ hearts and made her big screen debut five years later. She debuted in ‘Helicopter Eela,’ with Kajol in October 2018, followed by ‘Sir’ in December same year. Talking about Kajol starrer, Rashi portrayed the on-screen girlfriend of actor Riddhi Sen. In case you missed it, Kajol portrayed an overbearing mother named Eela in the movie, who follows her kid around all the time. Ajay Devgn and Jayantilal Gada of Pen India Ltd. are co-producers of the Mitesh Shah-written film.

Did Big Production Labels Pave The Way For Rashi in Bollywood?

Talking about associations with big labels like Dharma Productions and Ajay Devgn FFilms Pen India Limited, Rashi revealed that one has to constantly prove in order to pave his or her way. She said, “Once a project is released, then you’ll immediately have to see what’s coming next because there are so many other projects that are releasing so, I think you’ll always have to keep positioning yourself to deliver better. But of course, having the body of work that I have had, has definitely helped me in people taking me more seriously. I’ve been fortunate enough to be working with some of the best in the industry and of course that carries weight.”

Casting Couch to Digital Relevance, Rashi Mal Speaks About it All

The casting couch is a grim truth of the entertainment industry that struggling performers and others who fell short of their dreams often bring up. Rashi thinks that the casting couch applies to all industries, not only those in the film industry. She said, “People did warn me but then again there are all kinds of people everywhere. That is just not true of our business, that is true of any business. You learn how to conduct yourself, you learn how to deal with people who are not giving you the best energy or the best vibes. That’s life!”

Speaking about staying relevant on social media to get roles, she said, “I think there are different people that work in different ways. Some people will consider this as important, some people won’t. I think if you’re talented, you’ll eventually shine through. But yes, you cannot undermine the importance of social media. It is important to put yourself out there at least in some capacity.” Rashi believed that if one doesn’t adapt to changes, he or she will be left behind.”
