Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a show that has been entertaining audiences for years. While some characters have left, others continue to remain integral to the show. However, one iconic character around whom the story largely revolves is Dilip Joshi, aka Jethalal. The actor has been with the show since its inception, and over time, his popularity has soared, making him the highest-paid actor on the show. But life has not always been smooth for Dilip Joshi. In several interviews, the actor has shared details about his struggling days. Did you know that Dilip once shared the screen with Bollywood’s “Bhai,” Salman Khan? Yes, you read that right! Dilip Joshi made his film debut by playing the role of a house servant. He later appeared as Salman Khan’s friend in Hum Aapke Hain Koun. Despite acting in a blockbuster, the actor faced unemployment for some time after its release.

Dilip began his career in 1989 with the hit film Maine Pyar Kiya, where he played the role of a servant. Though the movie was a massive success, it didn’t bring much luck to his career. Dilip Joshi has spoken candidly about his struggles throughout his career. In a conversation with The Bombay Journey, he revealed the challenging phase of his life. While working on Sooraj Barjatya’s film Hum Aapke Hain Koun, he faced severe financial difficulties. In 1992, the year his daughter was born, he earned just Rs 400-450 per show. Despite the film’s blockbuster success, he remained unemployed for a long time.
