Today we will talk about an actor who started his career as a child artist but struggled to achieve stardom he deserved as an adult. He gave several hits, but later was labelled ‘jinxed’ when 40 of his films got shelved. We are talking about none other Jugal Hansraj.
He made is debut at the age of 11 years in 1983 film Masoom. The directorial debut of Shekhar Kapur also featured Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi. He then appeared as a child artist in few other films like Jhutha Sach, Karma, Loha, and Hukumat.
After growing up, Jugal Hansraj started receiving many offers. His 1995 film ‘Papa Kehte Hain’ took the actor’s career higher, and then his career started moving on track in Bollywood. After that he became popular in the industry with films like Mohabbatein (2000), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), and Salaam Namaste (2005).
Everyone would hope that he would emerge as the next big superstar of Bollywood. Unfortunately, his luck took an unexpected turn, leading him to drift away from Bollywood. If media reports have to be believed, the actor did not disappear from the big screen, but was busy working on those projects, which completely ruined his career.

Reportedly, Jugal Hansraj was offered 40 films at the height of his career. He began shooting for these projects back-to-back, which kept him away from the screen for a significant period. Out of 40 films, only few were completed. Some were left midway, others were shelved during the final stages of production, and many never even began. Jugal’s commitment to these projects left him missing from Bollywood for years during the peak of his career.
Well, only one or two films out 40 got released but failed at box office. Then, he started to disappear gradually from Bollywood. Although he occasionally appears in films every year or two, but never achieved the stardom that was expected to. Jugal Hansaj is the younger son of cricketer Pravin Hansraj and has an elder brother Sunil Hansraj. In July 2014, he married Jasmine Dhillon, an NRI investment banker from New York. The couple has a son named Sidak.
