Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda made his OTT debut with Zoya Akhtar’s Archies. Though the film struggled to draw the audience’s screens, Agastya Nanda’s performance was loved by fans. Now, reports are rife that Amitabh’s grandson will share the screen with the niece of Bollywood star Akshay Kumar Simar Bhatia. This will also mark Simar’s acting debut.

According to the reports, Agastya and Simar will feature in Sriram Raghavan’s forthcoming movie, Ikkis. A source speaking to Peeping Moon disclosed, “Although Alka is a camera-shy person and has always stayed away from the limelight despite producing several movies with Akshay, her daughter Simar has always been interested in acting and is excited to get on a film set to live her dream.”

The reports also claim that Simar paved her own path in securing the role based on her own merits in the movie. Although more details about the film are kept under wraps, reports claim that Simar will be the lead heroine in the film opposite Agastya Nanda. Though Nanda made his OTT debut, Sriram Raghavan’s next would be his first big-screen film.

Who is Simar Bhatia?

According to Peeping Moon, Simar Bhatia is Akshay Kumar’ sister’s daughter. A source cited by the portal revealed, ‘Although Alka is shy to appear on camera and despite doing many films with Akshay, she has always stayed away from the limelight. At the same time, her daughter Simar has always been interested in acting and now she is completely ready to live her dream and make her debut.’

More About Ikkis

For those unfamiliar, Second Lieutenant Arun Khetrapal was a courageous figure in the Indian Army, posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War. A memorial, ‘Arun’s Chowk’, honours his gallantry at the site of his brave stand. Ikkis is set to hit the big screens on January 10, 2025.

In a recent PTI interaction, Sriram Raghavan clarified that Ikkis won’t fictionalize Arun Khetarpal’s life. He stressed avoiding a simplistic or overly heroic portrayal akin to children’s comics. The focus will be on the young officer’s sacrifice at the age of 21, rather than his childhood.

Sriram Raghavan revealed, “It is a bigger production; there will be tank battles and all those things that happen in a war film. But it is also a human story; it’s a drama, a coming-of-age kind of a thing.”
