Priyanka Chopra is a global icon and a name to reckon with in the international arena, whether it’s for her acting skills, social causes, sartorial choices, or red carpet appearances. The Indian beauty grabbed a lot of attention last year when she made quite a stunning appearance at the Met Gala event. She wore a trench coat gown designed by Ralph Lauren, with her hair in a top knot, eyes done up in a metallic shade and lips brown. She finished her look by wearing silver statement holographic style earrings and black earrings. The out became the most talked about topic for several days and weeks to come since then, and Twitterati made it the subject of some mean memes as well. Well, this year, the diva made an appearance in a crimson velvet gown at the event held in New York City on Monday (May 7) night.
This year as well, PeeCee went with Ralph Lauren as the designer, wearing a strapless gown, paired with an embellished gold chain mail coif, similar to that of a medieval knight, going very well with this year’s theme –Heavenly Bodies : Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. This look was very different from the one she wore last year, albeit the designer was the same. It failed to live up to the impression she had made last year with the infamous trench coat ensemble with a cathedral train. The Gala like always was quite a celebrated event that had the creme de la creme of the fashion industry and Hollywood in attendance. Apart from Anna Wintour, the prestigious fashion night was co-hosted by Amal Clooney, Rihanna and Donatella Versace.
