#MeToo: Preity Zinta Lashes Out, Says Her Recent Comments on The Movement Were Taken Out of Context
Preity said the interview was edited and her comments were made to sound controversial.
Actress Preity Zinta has lashed out after she faced backlash on social media for having said that she ‘wished’ she was harassed after she was asked for her opinion about the #MeToo Movement. Preity had in an interview said that she has never faced any problems during her work as a Bollywood actress, and that it is “very safe” for women. When her interview aired, people slammed her for her comments, calling her insensitive, but she said her words have been taken out of context.
During the interview, Preity was asked if she had ever faced any sort of harassment, and she had laughingly said no and that she wished she had been.
“No, I haven’t, I wish I had (laughs). At least then, I would have had an answer to tell you… No and that’s what I am saying that this is very relevant question because people treat you the way you want to be treated,” she had said.
Her comments did not well with some, and they took to Twitter to air their disapproval of her comments.
Q. Did you ever have a #MeToo experience?

In a country where even young school-going girls are exposed to sexually explicit comments in public spaces, this is a really silly thing to say. #Metoo https://t.co/IRcm77K6fx

Preity gave it back to the people who slammed her for her comments, saying the interview had been edited to make her sound controversial, and for it to gain better traction.
Really sad 2see how the interview Is edited to trivialis& be insensitive. Not everything is traction & as someone being interviewed I expected decency & maturity froma journalist @iFaridoon. I did 25 interviews that day & only yours turned out edited like this #dissappointed
