Mika Singh, renowned for his peppy songs and impressive persona, in 2012 decided to step into the world of production with the series Dangerous. To be safe with his first project, he decided to choose a script written by Raaz filmmaker Vikram Bhatt. Mika chose to cast Karan Singh Grover alongside a newcomer to maintain the budget. However, the dynamic changed when his wife Bipasha Basu, jumped in to work opposite his husband, Karan. What seemed like dream production quickly turned into a nightmare for Mika, leaving him with a terrible experience in the field of production.

Mika Singh’s horrific experience of working with Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover

Mika expressed his frustration on a podcast KADAK, stating, “I wanted to cast Karan Singh Grover and a newcomer girl so that the movie remains in budget and we make something nice, but Bipasha Basu jumped in this and was like, ‘We can both be part of this series.’ They did come in the budget only, but the experience was horrible.”

The situation worsen when the production got delayed for six months, causing a significant financial burden for the entire team. “I took a team of 50 to London for a month-long schedule. However, it extended to two months. Karan and Bipasha created a lot of drama. They were a married couple so I booked a single room for them. But, they were like, ‘No, we need our separate rooms.’ I didn’t understand the logic. They then demanded to shift to a different hotel. We did that as well,” Mika recalled.

Well, the challenges didn’t end here. Things became bad when the lead actor of the film fractured his leg. Moreover, Mika also faced issues during post-production. “They even created issues while dubbing the film. They were giving excuses that they have sore throat and other things. I couldn’t understand the drama, especially when they were paid for their work,” he added.

Things were worse when the couple refused to follow the script

The matter became worse when Karan and Bipasha refused to do a kissing scene, despite it was a part of their contract. While expressing his frustration during the conversation, Mika said, “They are husband and wife and yet they created drama around kissing each other on screen.” He also criticized the preferential treatment stars give to bigger production houses, saying, “These stars fall on the feet of big producers like Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Films and keep praising them for even the tiniest roles, but their attitude changes when it comes to smaller producers. Aren’t these producers also spending money?.”

The experience was so disheartening that Mika promised himself to never venture into production again. “I have now decided to never produce a film and I advise the same to others. And if at all they consider making films, please give an opportunity to newcomers,” he said.
