The actor too had confirmed his association with the film by announcing the same on his Twitter handle. Akshay had tweeted, “My association with Him began with my very first film. He was The Emperor of Music. Now know His story… #Mogul, The Gulshan Kumar story!” But if the latest media reports are anything to go by, Aamir Khan, who is currently shooting for his forthcoming film, Thugs Of Hindostan with Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif, and Sana Fatima Sheikh, has replaced Akshay Kumar in the upcoming biopic, Mogul. Speculations were rife that Khiladi Kumar has quit the project and reportedly returned the signing amount to the makers. To this news, Akshay had reacted saying that he’s the face of the project and it hasn’t gone on floors, so these are just rumours. But the rumours don’t seem to die down. There were also rumours doing the rounds that Aamir Khan has come on board for Mogul, as a producer after a leading daily quoted a source as saying, “Aamir will produce this biopic, which itself is an important development. Whether he will play the lead is not yet decided. No other details are known as of now.” But recent reports suggest that not just production, Aamir is all set to step into Akshay’s shoes for the Mogul biopic. Helmed by Akshay’s ‘Jolly LLB 2’ director Subhash Kapoor and bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar, Mogul is based on late Gulshan Kumar, who was shot dead on 12th August 1997. The film is expected to release in 2018. Well, on the professional front, Akshay will be next seen in R Balki’s Padman, which is slated to release on February 9. The film, that is bankrolled by his wife Twinkle Khanna, also stars Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in pivotal roles. Meanwhile, the most anticipated film Thugs of Hindostan starring Aamir Khan is all set to release this year. Aamir’s epic period action-adventure film is written and helmed by Vijay Krishna Acharya.
