The cast Of Nivin Pauly’s Kayamkulam Kochunni just got bigger with none other than Lalettan Mohanlal joining the team. The actor took to Twitter to share the great news with fans which has put all Mollywood cine-buffs in frenzy. The Indian period film is written by Bobby-Sanjay and directed by Rosshan Andrrews also stars Priya Anand, Priyanka Thimmesh, Babu Antony, Sunny Wayne, Manikandan R. Achari and Thesni Khan.
Sharing the news about Mohanlal joining the cast, Nivin tweeted, “And it’s confirmed. The charismatic Lalettan is joining the cast of Kayamkulam Kochunni for a role that can only be performed by the Complete Actor himself! The entire cast and crew is absolutely delighted and thrilled to share the working space alongside him. Kayamkulam Kochunni is based on a real life incident, on the life of highwayman based in Kayamkulam, Kerala in early 19th century. According to folklore, he stole from the rich and gave it to the poor ala Robin Hood. He was later arrested and died in jail in 1859. Interestingly, Kayamkulam Kochunni is not the first film on the legend. In the 1966, Malayalam film of the same name was directed by P. A. Thomas with Sathyan paying the titular Kochunni. There was also a Malayalam TV serial on Surya TV about a teenage Kochunni played by Manikuttan. In Kayamkulam Kochunni, Nivin Pauly will be playing the titular role.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal is also filming for Odiyan, a fantasy thriller directed by V. A. Shrikumar Menon. The film tells the story of the legendary Odiyan, men possessing shapeshifting abilities according to folklore in Kerala. The actor has been training hard for his role the past few months and is one project that is highly anticipated by fans.
