Actor Mark Blum, who was recently seen in popular Netflix series You in the role of Mr Mooney, passed away in the US due to complications from the coronavirus. The 69-year-old actor contracted COVID-19 and was admitted to the New York-Presbyterian Hospital. The news was confirmed by Fox News that quoted Blum’s widow, Janet Zarish, saying he passed away on March 25 from the complications out of the coronavirus. Rebecca Damon, the Vice President of the SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) also confirmed the news citing that Blum was a former member of the board. In her heartfelt condolence, she called the actor ‘a master teacher, a loyal friend, and a beautiful human.’ She went on to say, “On a personal note–I always appreciated Mark’s clear perception of complex situations. He always spoke the truth and did a great service in informing members of our community about the ins and outs of the union whenever he had the opportunity. Mark was smart, funny, and a true actor’s actor. He will be deeply missed. Thinking of you all. A New York-based group named Playwrights Horizons also offered condolence on Blum’s death. The official handle of the group on Twitter paid homage to the actor and posted a few pictures of him from his theatre days.
