Actor Patralekhaa took to Instagram to raise her voice against being body-shamed for wearing a crop top with a pair of oversized denim to a screening recently. The actor was one of the guests at the special screening of Netflix film Guilty that features Kiara Advani and Akansha Ranjan Kapoor in important roles. Patralekhaa wore her top and denim combo with a black jacket and a pair of black boots. She kept her hair curly and sported brown-toned makeup. The actor looked stunning and absolutely striking. But, for some, Patralekhaa was not suitably dressed for her body. The actor took to Instagram to write against the same trolling and unnecessary criticism. The talented actor mentioned that she would always wear she wants to and will never endure any personal attack. Patralekhaa said she was shocked to see how people could make negative comments on her photos just because she didn’t conform to their standards of beauty and styling. The actor’s caption on the post read, “I wore this outfit to a screening and got papped! A few fashion bloggers picked it up (thank you for that) but I happened to read the comments section below and they were filled with negativity. I was a bit shocked about people spewing so much negativity and personal attack in their comments. WHY? It’s my body I will wear what I like and what I want. If i look cheap, wannabe, this shape, that size etc, its really none of anyone’s business. My body my armour! I will wear what I want to wear. #HappyWomens’day2020. Celebrating today and everyday. Patralekhaa received wide support from all in the comments on her post. Actor Rajkummar Rao, who’s dating the girl, wrote just how beautiful she is. Women who follow her on Instagram simply asked her to not pay attention to what people think of her body and style. Diana Penty complimented her for the look while Hazel Keech praised her for speaking out against the trolling.

Society, in general, is quite critical of what a woman wears. Most people are quick to make judgements about a woman’s character and her lifestyle from the way she dresses up. And when this scrutiny comes to a female actor, it gets more dangerous. A female actor is always in the public eye and is being judged on the colour of her skin, the choice of her dress, the shape of her body, the dimples that she has or the cleavage that she flaunts. Let’s just let them be this Women’s Day!
