Nahid Afrin back on Indian Idol stage; sings ahead of fatwa controversy!

Nahid Afrin has proved it that she doesn't fear anyone and no one can stop her from singing!

Indian Idol Junior 2015 contestant Nahid Afrin has been in news off late. The young singer was issued a fatwa by her community asking her to stop singing in public. This news sparked rage in the industry with everyone coming out in support of the budding talent. Nahid has won million hearts for her melodious voice and mesmerising performances on Indian Idol Junior. Although Nahid didn’t win the show, she has earned recognition for her talent across the country. She was scheduled to perform at her hometown Assam and the fatwa issued against her stated that she must stop going on public platforms and sing.

The Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal, scriptwriter Salim Khan and singer Vishal Dadlani came out in support of Nahid. They stood by her and convinced her to perform fearlessly. Accordingly, on Tuesday, Nahid came back on Indian Idol’s stage to perform Raj Raj Ke from Sonakshi Sinha’s Akira. At the same time, she also announced the release of her upcoming Assamese song. The Dabangg actress who was a judge on Indian Idol Junior’s last season came as a celebrity guest for the evening. She was the one who ensured a Bollywood break for Nahid and was gladly recalling her performances from the reality show. Nahid also thanked Sonakshi for trusting and believing in her talent.  According to Mumbai Mirror’s source, “Nahid admits that she was unsure of pulling off the Akira song when Sonakshi offered it to her. She was only 13 at the time. But the actress who had supported her publicly on the show encouraged her. Nahid is also impressed with Indian Idol 9 contestant Khuda Baksh and admires him. She considers him her elder brother and hopes that he wins this season. She also expressed her gratitude for Vishal who extended his support during her recent controversy.
