The Telugu action film ‘Nakshatram’ has finally hit the silver screens today, August 11. The movie starring Sundeep Kishan, Regina Cassandra, Pragya Jaiswal, Prakash Raj in key roles was expected to be a blockbuster but it the critics are not impressed with it. Written by Krishna Vamsi, ‘Nakshatram’ is touted as a pointless movie by the critics. It has everything that a south film needs – action, comedy, romance and even the actors have done a decent job in terms of performance. But the weak plot and direction has left the critics disappointed. Take a look at some of the reviews below:
Chitramala: The writing lacks the freshness. There is not much that is happening with the story of the film. It is routine too! The old charm of Krishna Vamshi’s writing is completely missing. The Hindu: Nakshatram also bites off more than it can chew. It wants to highlight drug abuse, sexual offences and the plight of those in the lower rung of the film industry. If you’ve liked watching director Krishnavamsi’s films, revisit some of his older hits and give this one a miss. Firstpost: At a run time of two hours and forty five minutes, the film, at best, makes you want to erase your memory of having watched the film in first place. Make no mistake, Nakshatram is one of the most tedious and pointless films made in recent times. Tollywood’s obsession with glorifying cops needs no introduction, but if that obsession leads someone to make a film like Nakshatram, then it’s high time to take a break and look at greener pastures.
