National Film Awards 2025: The eagerly awaited 71st National Film Awards, honouring the finest in Indian cinema, announced its winners on August 1. Recognised for excellence across diverse categories — from acting and direction to music and production — the awards spotlighted remarkable talent. Among the distinguished winners was filmmaker Kamakhya Narayan Singh, who received the honour for his acclaimed film Timeless Tamil Nadu.

In 2022, the acclaimed director clinched the National Film Award for his 15-minute documentary Justice Delayed but Delivered. Centered on the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, the film won in the Best Film on Social Issues category at the 68th National Film Awards.
Kamakhya Narayan Singh’s journey from TV to cinema
Kamakhya Narayan Singh began his career in television before making his mark in films. His 2021 feature Bhor travelled to 28 film festivals worldwide, cementing his reputation as a filmmaker to watch. He has also been lauded for thought-provoking documentaries like #Article 35A (2017) and 10 Days South Africa (2020). His award-winning Justice Delayed but Delivered (2020) further established his voice in socially relevant storytelling.
