Well, Neetu is currently shooting in Los Angeles, looks like she is all geared up to surprise her fans soon. From sharing her beautiful experience, working with legendary singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to her upcoming projects, the actress reveals many interesting details in an exclusive interview with India.com. Excerpts from the interview.
You were recently a part of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s latest track, what made you choose this project?
I don’t think anyone could have ever said no to this song. Ace legendary singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who is a master of his craft and the romantic songs that he has sung in the past plus the family that he comes from, there was no way I could’ve refused this offer. Even before, I have heard the lyrics penned by Anupama Raag and was completely spellbound! Somewhere down the line, I genuinely feel like a Banjara, in other words, a traveler, considering I travel so much literally and in my thoughts. I love exploring! What is the one thing you enjoyed the most while working on this project?
The one thing or rather a person I enjoyed working with the most is the director of the video Shruti Vora. I absolutely loved working with her! She had the vision of making me look the way I wanted to look. The moment I put my costume on, I was instantly comfortable in my skin. No one else has presented me as well as she has. She was also the one, who shortlisted the location of Kyrgyzstan, which was one of the most scenic locations I have shot at.
In the past too, you were a part of music videos like Mera Babu Chail Chabela and Sajna Hai Mujhe, how have things changed since then?
You know how a child who is absolutely new to the industry starts off? I was one of the four girls in the Babu Chail Chabela video. I was a nobody at that time, though I grabbed attention as I was one of the girls dancing on the stage. Sophie Choudry was the lead singer. This was a great opportunity for me and I am glad, I was a part of this video. When you start your career, you are required to do a lot of advertisements, music videos to gain prominence. I am talking about 10 years back when there was no digitisation of videos and amplification for wider reach could not take place. Also, the style of shooting was very different including the structuring. But this video has brought forward my beauty in a way that no other video could have. A lot of efforts have been taken and it is here for everyone to see.
You were away from the limelight for quite some time, was it a conscious decision?
Well, I wouldn’t say that I was away from the limelight. I was busy with a play based on the spectacular Umrao Jaan, with the music composed by Rekha Bhardwaj. I was playing a girl, who ages from 17-85 years of age. I was live on stage for almost two hours. I have been busy with over 70 performances, two productions; I have produced a National Award winning film Mithila Makhaan and also, did a Greek film. Content, plus a higher glam quotient, is what is lapped by the audiences these days and I understand that now. Finally, people are able to connect to the work I have done for the past 3 years and I am loving it.

Currently, you’re shooting in Los Angeles, could you tell us what project are you currently working on?
Haha! I am shooting for something very special in LA (Los Angeles) and in due course of time, the news will be out! Don’t worry, you’ll be very proud of me! Love you all.
What kind of films do you want to take up? Do you have a wishlist?
I would definitely like to take up romantic films because I feel, I haven’t done much of them. On the other hand, I would love to do action films, since I am a trained martial artist. Also, I want to inspire girls to take up a martial art and learn the act of self-defence. I would like to do films that are content driven and have a commercial edge to them, which includes music and dance; I believe, that has been my drawback.
Many celebrities are taking to web series like Shamita Shetty, Lisa Haydon, among others. If you get a chance, would you opt for one?
Web series are really booming today and I would love to be a part of an original Netflix or Amazon Prime Show, something like a Narcos, Queen of the South or Game of Thrones, Also, why not opt for one? Considering the avid digitization of content, this is a great way of reaching out to the audience through just one click.

By any chance, have you watched Bigg Boss 11, any views?
I haven’t been able to follow Bigg Boss due to my travelling schedule. However, I am too scared to be a part of the show as it’s terrifying for me to see the way their personal lives are brought to the screen. Nonetheless, all the luck and success to people, who strive to make a career out of Bigg Boss.
Are you open to doing television shows?
I would love to do a non-fictional show, in terms of judging or hosting one. I feel that would be a better positioning for me. Considering my work commitments, a daily show will be difficult.
