There are some actors who stick to one genre throughout their careers, while others do various roles and experiment with different types of characters. There are a few actors, however, who dive into every genre possible, playing a variety of roles— from antagonists to romantic leads, from action heroes to supporting characters. Today, we will discuss one such actor in the film industry, whose career, despite his attempts at experimenting with numerous roles, didn’t take off as expected. But everything changed in 2022 when he made a sensational appearance in a blockbuster movie. The actor is Akshaye Khanna.

Akshaye Khanna’s Struggles

Akshaye Khanna made his debut in 1997 with the film Himalay Putra. Over the years, he was seen in several successful films, including Border, Dil Chahta Hai, Hamraaz, Hungama, 36 China Town, Race and Mom. However, despite his impressive series of works, he never achieved the kind of superstardom his famous father, Vinod Khanna, had. His career seemed to have stalled, and he didn’t reach the level of success many had anticipated.

However, in 2022, Akshaye Khanna made a remarkable comeback in Drishyam 2, a film that turned the tide for him. His character not only re-established him as a star but also made him reach new heights of success. In the film, his performance was widely praised, and his portrayal of the relentless and sharp officer was a standout and he managed to shine in every scene he was a part of.

Drishyam 2, directed by Abhishek Pathak, was a crime thriller and a sequel to 2015 hit Drishyam. The film, a remake of the 2021 Malayalam film of the same name, was set seven years after the events of its first instalment. It starred Akshaye Khanna alongside Ajay Devgn and Tabu and quickly became a massive success. The film entered the Rs 100 crore club within just six days of its release and went on to gross Rs 345 crore worldwide. This marked Akshaye Khanna’s first-ever film to join the prestigious Rs 100 crore club.
