Five years after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, many fans still believe it wasn’t suicide and hope for justice. Now, a Mumbai magistrate court has issued a notice to Rhea Chakraborty over the CBI’s closure report in the case.
In a recent development in the Sushant Singh Rajput case, a Mumbai court has issued a notice to actress Rhea Chakraborty. This notice pertains to allegations she made against Sushant’s sisters, Priyanka and Meetu Singh, accusing them of obtaining a forged prescription for their brother. The court has directed Rhea to respond to this notice within 15 days.
The case dates back to September 2020, when Rhea filed a complaint alleging that Sushant’s sisters procured a fake prescription for him, which she claimed contributed to his deteriorating mental health. She accused them of administering medication without proper consultation, leading to adverse effects. In response, Sushant’s sisters filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking to quash the FIR lodged against them. The High Court, in February 2021, quashed the FIR against Meetu Singh but allowed the investigation against Priyanka Singh to continue.
Rhea’s legal troubles began after Sushant’s father, KK Singh, filed an FIR in Patna accusing her of abetment to suicide and financial misconduct. The case was later transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for further probe. Additionally, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Rhea in September 2020 on charges related to drug procurement and consumption. She was granted bail after spending nearly a month in judicial custody. For the unversed, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra home on June 14, 2020. His death triggered a high-profile investigation and media coverage.
In recent times, Rhea has been gradually resuming her professional life. A special court permitted her to travel abroad for work commitments, acknowledging her adherence to bail conditions and her previous compliance during international travels. She has also ventured into entrepreneurship by launching a streetwear brand, Chapter2Drip, along with her brother, Showik Chakraborty, in Mumbai.
