Bigg Boss 18 is making headlines with its high-voltage drama, controversies, and juicy gossip. In tonight’s episode of the reality show, a twist awaits as Farah Khan takes over as the host for the Weekend Ka Vaar instead of Salman Khan. The director can be seen schooling several contestants for their misbehaviour. Towards the end of the episode, Shilpa Shirodkar shared an interesting anecdote. While conversing with Chum Darang and Karan Veer Mehra, she reminisced about the time Farah Khan offered her the iconic song Chaiyya Chaiyya, which ultimately featured Malaika Arora and Shah Rukh Khan.
In the snippet making rounds on the internet, Shilpa was heard telling Karan Veer Mehra and Chum Darang, “At that point in time, Farah (Khan) had asked me to lose some weight.” However, a few days later, Shilpa said she received a call from Farah, who told her that Malaika had replaced her in the song.
Shilpa made her Bollywood debut in Ramesh Sippy’s Bhrashtachar (1989), starring alongside Mithun Chakraborty and Rekha. Over the years, she collaborated with top actors such as Anil Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, and Govinda. Despite her flourishing career, Shilpa decided to step away from the film industry after marrying UK-based banker Aparesh Ranjit in 2000. Interestingly, her sister, Namrata Shirodkar, also left Bollywood and tied the knot with superstar Mahesh Babu, making Shilpa his sister-in-law.
Shilpa added, “Farah told me, ‘You are fat for the song,'” leaving Karan in fits of laughter. He further joked, “Tu chadti toh train rukh jaati kya? (Would the train have stopped if you had climbed onto it?).” In response, Shirodkar quipped that only Farah Khan and Dil Se director Mani Ratnam could clarify why she wasn’t chosen for the track.
This week, Shilpa Shirodkar, Sara Arfeen Khan, Chum Darang, Kashish Kapoor, Digvijay Singh Rathee, and Karan Veer Mehra have been nominated for eviction.
