While there are varied predictions on this topic, there are a few with consensus. While there have been varied favourites on the wide categories of the prestigious awards, the main or feature awards have all been easily predicted. A favourite movie in this year’s Academy Awards seems to be Leonardo DiCaprio starrer The Revenant.
Another movie that has been making the news for quite some time and become a favourite is Tom McCarthy’s Spotlight. The movie has been a favorite and has often been in competition with The Revenant in predictions for the Best Picture category. However, another movie that could win the gold is Adam McKay’s The Big Short.
When it comes to the Oscar for Best Actor, all predictions seem to be ringing in unison as Leonardo DiCaprio has been the most fave pick for this year’s Oscars. The actor is rumoured to finally bag the gold for Best Actor in a Leading Role with his phenomenal performance in The Revenant. On the other hand the Oscar Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role is predicted to go to Brie Larson for her intense role in the thrilling Oscar nominee, Room.
A preferred choice for the award of Supporting Actor is Sylvester Stallone who has managed a stupendous comeback after 39 years as Rocky in Creed. His performance in Creed is Oscar worthy and many are willing to bet their money on his heart-touching performance. On the other hand, the prediction for Best Supporting Actress has no clear favourite while Kate Winslet and Alicia Vikander are ahead in this race of predictions.
The gold for the Best Adapted Screenplay has one clear winner in the form of The Big Short and the award for best original screenplay will be taken by one of the most hyped and talked about movie of the year, Spotlight.
The winner in the Animated Feature category also seems to be very clear with Pixar’s Inside out in the race. The movie brought back the love for Pixar and took us into a whole new world of animation.
When it comes to the Oscar for Best Director, movie buffs, critics and Oscar enthusiasts all sing in support of Alejandro G Inarritu and have predicted his consecutive Oscar win this year for The Revenant. If it does come true, he will be the first director to take home the Academy Award twice in a row, after Joseph L Mankiewica in 1950-51.
While these Oscar Awards 2016 predictions are all backed by hard facts, favourites and patterns observed, we sure hope to see some new element of surprise like last year.
