Padma Awards 2025: Arijit Singh, Ajith Kumar, Shekhar Kapur, late Pankaj Udhas, check full list of this year’s recipients

On Saturday, the Narendra Modi government announced that the prestigious Padma Awards are considered one of the top civilian honours in the country.

Padma Awards 2025: The central government on January 25, 2025, announced the recipients of the prestigious Padma Awards. The awards were presented in three categories: Padma Vibhushan (for exceptional and distinguished service), Padma Bhushan (distinguished service of a higher order), and Padma Shri (distinguished service). The awards were conferred on the eve of Republic Day, starting with the late singer Sharda Sinha, who was posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan.

Singer Arijit Singh, director Shekhar Kapur, actor Ajith Kumar, and the late singer Pankaj Udhas are some of the prominent figures to be honored with the Padma Awards.

On Saturday, the Narendra Modi government announced that the prestigious Padma Awards are considered one of the top civilian honours in the country. Additionally, the Ministry of Home Affairs revealed that there are seven Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awardees.

President Droupadi Murmu of India will present these awards at ceremonial functions held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in March-April this year.

The seven Padma Vibhushan awardees included the late folk singer Sharda Sinha, who has been posthumously awarded India’s second-highest civilian honour. Sinha was known for her folk songs, especially the Chhath songs. In November 2024, the singer passed away after suffering from multiple myeloma.

Stars Conferred with Padma Bhushan

Names such as Jatin Goswami, the late singer Pankaj Udhas, Anant Nag, and filmmaker Shekhar Kapur were conferred with the Padma Bhushan.

Out of the 113 Padma Shri awards, recipients include Adwaita Charan Gadanayak, Achyut Ramchandra Palav, Ashok Laxman Saraf, Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, Barry Godfray John, Gokul Chandra Das, Farooq Ahmad Mir, Durga Charan Ranbir, Bharat Gupt, Guruvayur Dorai, Harchandan Singh Bhatty, Harjinder Singh Srinagar Wale, Hassan Raghu, Jaspinder Narula, Joynacharan Bathari, and Nirmala Devi. Singer Arijit Singh and Ricky Kej have been honoured for their contributions to the field of music.
