The makers of Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson starrer 2.0 had locked January 25 to release their much-awaited sci-fi flick. The film was to earlier release on Diwali and clash with Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal Again but that did not happen as some post-production work was pending on 2.0. Last week Akshay Kumar released a new poster of Padman along with a release date. He took to Twitter and wrote, “Not all superheroes come with capes! Bringing you the true story of a real superhero, ‘Padman’ this Republic Day – January 26, 2018.” Padman was to release in April 2018 earlier. Also Read - Into The Wild With Bear Grylls: Ajay Devgn To Go On Adventurous Ride With The Host | Deets Inside

After this, a lot was said and written about two Akshay Kumar films releasing on the Republic Day weekend of 2018 and how they could end up eating into each other’s businesses. But Akshay seems to have enough of it and has dissed stories of 2.0 and Padman clashing at the box office. While talking to Mid-Day, he said, “There is a lot of false information that is being circulated over both films releasing on the same day. Why would I clash with my own film? It will either be 2.0 or Padman. While Padman is a film that I have produced, 2.0 belongs to Shankar Rajinikanth and Lyca Productions. They will decide if they want to release the film on Republic Day. If they do I will postpone Padman and if they don’t, I will go ahead.” Also Read - PM Modi Extends His Condolences To Akshay Kumar In Emotional Letter After His Mother Passes Away | Read Here

Apart from this, the actor also opened about preponing the release of Padman. He said, “am certainly having a release on Republic Day because If I don’t do it, there are many others who are waiting in line. So, I might as well take advantage.” So does this mean out wait to see Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar’s 2.0 will get longer than we expected? We are kinda sad but also relieved that a box office clash is averted on Republic Day 2018.
