The fate of Padmavati lies undecided. Thanks to all the furor, threats and warnings against screening the film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has deferred the release. Initially slated for a December 1 release date, Padmavati now remains postponed indefinitely. But even as the debates – for and against – the film rage on, the filmmaker has been screening his magnum opus for some individuals, who are also television and social media influencers. So far, the word is good. Arnab Goswami of Republic TV has watched the film recently and he has shared his review of the film. Also Read - Sportsmen And Their Alleged Bollywood Affairs: From Yuvraj-Deepika to Hardik-Parineeti | Watch Video
If you are someone already feeling aghast and disappointed about what is happening the a film and its cast, what the senior journalist says about this Shahid Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh starrer, will only make you feel all the more appalled. Karni Sena and various Rajput groups have been up, against the film, claiming that historical facts have been distorted while making the film on their Rajput queen Rani Padmini. But Goswami is of the view that the film is only about Rajput valour, pride and honour and will make all the protests fueled by Karni Sena look foolish once the film comes to theatres. “If the version shown to me will go to the theatres, Padmavati is the greatest ever tribute to Rajput pride. I am not a film critic so I will not go to cinematic nuances, performances, graphics, music. Let’s not talk about that. But in the specific context of the raging controversy, every scene of this film is a fluid cinematic tribute to Rani Padmavati’s greatness. So if Rani Padmavati were to be a myth, she shall now be a greater myth and if she is a part of our history, which she is, then she shall be entrenched even deeper. “In our history, this Karni Sena will be left looking utterly foolish once this film hits the box office because far from an intimate moment, Alauddin and Padmavati – Ranveer and Deepika – don’t even share one single frame together in the film. So those people ravaging theatres and threatening nose cuts and acid attacks will be laughed at across India and they will look like clowns. Their vandalism will look politically sponsored when millions of Indians will watch this beautiful film that every moment of this film is devoted to only one thing – the valour of the Rajput tradition.
“There isn’t even a nanosecond of vulgarity. And even the romance between Ratan Singh and Padmavati is subtle and delicately portrayed. I really think the BJP should truly reconsider the prospect of embarrassing themselves no end by joining the Karni Sena’s side. Not one scene in this film needs a Censor’s scissor because Sanjay Leela Bhansali has single-handedly woven the theory, the story of Rajput pride, better than any Sena can. So I don’t know whether Padmavati will be a hit but for the polarising brigade, this is going to be a massive dud and that is the victory of Padmavati. Because Padmavati in her greatness in this film will prove the Karni Sena wrong and that truly is the brilliance of this controversy. Having seen the film, the debate changes completely.”

Shahid Kapoor, who plays Maharawal Ratan Singh in Padmavati, who was present at IIFI 2017 opening ceremony, was of the opinion that the film will eventually come out and with full force. The actor looked unfazed and so did Deepika Padukone when she recently spoke to the media and said that she has full faith in the Indian judiciary and that no harm will come to her, her team or her film, to which she has given two years of her life.
