Padmavati controversy is bleeding our ears now. The film has been mired in controversy right when it started filming in Rajasthan, during its very first schedule. And now, just a few days away from its December 1 release, it had to be pushed indefinitely to avoid any inadvertent situation. Fan or no fan, cine buff or not, no one has remained untouched by what’s going on with the film. While there may be some who have no interest or inclination about watching Padmavati when it does release in theatres, we are sure most people want to know if it will even see the light of day. Will Padmavati release? When will it release? Has Karni Sena seen the film? Will Bhansali show the film to Karni Sena and other Rajput groups? Will Karni Sena let the film release smoothly? Will the two warring parties call truce and we get to experience the magnum opus on the big screen? Will the theatres that screen Padmavati be attacked and vandalised? These are just a few questions that everyone wants answered and soon. In this chat with Firstpost, Karni Sena chief Lokendra Singh Kalvi has cleared his stance about the film. According to him, Bhansali has lost any chance that he had for a truce. His delay in showing giving a clarification to the Karni Sena or showing them the film has caused him dear. And now, Sena chief is determined to do all in his might to ensure that the film doesn’t release. “We have given the film publicity worth Rs 5 crore for free and as the chief of Karni Sena, I will ensure that Bhansali incurs 100 times the loss,” he declares. He also has a clear threat to all those who are waiting to watch the film, “If you are in the mood to watch Padmavati, you are in for disappointment as you will not be able to watch it,” Kalvi says, leaving us guessing if he will not let the film release or will have his men attack and vandalise the theatres and harm the audience as well.
He is upset that Bhansali didn’t make a fictional character and instead turned a page from History for his film. “Why didn’t he name the film Hiravati or Lilavati? Why a Rajput queen Padmavati? Why couldn’t he make something fictional like Baahubali and be happy with the kind of money and appreciation it earns?,” he questions leaving very little to hope from this entire situation. His plan to get the CM’s on board his plan to ban Padmavati in their state or face dire consequences. With these kinds of threats and with those responsible for maintaining the law and order in the country not doing enough to put a stop to this kind of hooliganism, you need no expertise to foresee tougher times ahead for Padmavati.
