New Delhi, Jan 30: It now seems that an agreement has been reached between film maker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Rajasthani outfit Karni Sena. This comes after an exchange of letters between Bhansali and the Karni Sena on the film maker’s upcoming film Padmavati. Also Read - Ranveer Singh's Transformation As Kapil Dev For 83 Will Leave You Excited | New Poster
Bhansali in his letter has told the Karni Sena that no intimate dream sequence between Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji will be part of the movie. To this, the Karni Sena, in its letter, has thanked the film maker for ‘conceding to their demands’. Also Read - Ranveer Singh Starrer 83 Gets a Release Date | Watch Teaser
However, the Karni Sena had also demanded that the film’s name be changed and that the film be screened before them before it gets released. There is, however, no clarity on whether Bhansali has agreed to drop the name ‘Padmavati’ even as the film maker says that the film has been cleared and that an agreement has been reached with the Karni Sena. Meanwhile, many historians have said that the controversy is unnecessary as Padmavati is just a fictional character. Speaking exclusively to India.com, noted historian Professor Shireen Moosvi said that there is absolutely nothing about Padmavati in the works of history. “The whole controversy and the attack on the film maker are certainly not called for. Padmini or Padmavati is only a character in Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s poem Padmavat in 1540,” she said.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali was attacked on Friday while shooting for Padmavati in Jaigarh Fort by some activists of Karni Sena. The Karni Sena claimed that it is nowhere mentioned that Padmavati fell in love with Alauddin Khilji as what is being depicted in the film. The activists also added that the film was defaming Padmavati.
Later, other outfits including the Hindu Sena and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad also joined protests against Bhansali. A Hindu Sena member even went on to issue a death threat to Boolywood for supporting Bhansali.
Following the attack, Bhansali had wrapped up his shooting from Jaipur and had gone back to Mumbai. He even vowed not to shoot in Jaipur again.
The actors in the movie Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, too, had expressed shocked and anger against the attack on Bhansali. Other Bollywood stars and film makers including Priyanka Chopra, Anurag Kashyap, Shabana Azmi, too, stood with Bhansali.
However, with the latest turn of events and exchange of letters, it now seems that Bhansali may soon be returning to Jaipur to resume his film’s shooting.
