Padmavati has been in the news since Sanjay Leela Bhansali started filming it earlier this year. Thrice, the sets were damaged and shoot was halted as fringe groups thought that the filmmaker has distorted facts while making the magnum opus starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. Even now as the film nears the release date, there are several protests held against the film. Some even demanded a ban on the release of the film. Also Read - The Incarnation-SITA Writer Says ‘Kangana Was Our Priority Not Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone’

To this, Deepika Padukone said, “The only people we are answerable to is the censor board, and I know and I believe that nothing can stop the release of this film.” The actress while talking about the ongoing controversy before the release of Padmavati said, “It’s appalling, it’s absolutely appalling. What have we gotten ourselves into? And where have we reached as a nation? We have regressed.” But this hasn’t gone down too well with trolls and they have threatened to burn theatres and slap the actress if facts in Padmavati are distorted.
