Padmavati Trivia: Anupriya Goenka In Shahid Kapoor, Deepika Padukone’s Ghoomar Played A Lesbain In A Viral Ad
Anupriya Goenka stars in Padmavati song Ghoomar that stars Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone
The first song from Padmavati, Ghoomar released on Wednesday morning and as expected from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film, was a musical and visual treat. We couldn't stop raving about the beautiful Deepika Padukone, who looked ethereal as the Rajputana queen Rani Padmini and aced the rajasthani folk dance ghoomar moves like a pro.
Shahid Kapoor looked every bit like royalty as Maharawal Ratan Singh. But what left us wondering was this other woman, sitting pretty like a queen herself, in the song. Fans were left confused too, with some suggested that she might be playing Shahid's mother. But we have just learnt that the actress in Anupriya Goenka, who plays Maharawal Ratan Singh's first wife, Nagmati.
As per history records, Ratan Singh's two wives, Nagmati and Padmavati didn't get along too well. And of you were to take a relook at Ghoomar now, you would be able to sense the undercurrents of hate and insecurity between the two ladies.
Another from this interesting fact, we found out that Anupriya Goenka is no one else but the same woman who played a lesbian character in India's first ever lesbian ad for an ecommerce brand. The ad had gone viral within hours of its release. You can take a look at the ad below.
She starred with Kolkata-based fashion designer Neha Panda in the ad which talks about a live-in lesbian couple's anxiety just before meeting one of the girl's parents, where they are also about to come out of the closet. From whatever little we have seen in the ad, Anupriya seems to be a natural and we are waiting to watch her perform on the big screen. You can trust Sanjay Leela Bhansali to bring together an interesting cast and we are hoping Anupriya's character in Padmavati has enough depth to leave us in awe.
As per written history, her character Nagmati and Deepika's Rani Padmini together self-immolated themselves on Maharawal Ratan Singh's pyre to evade getting conquered by Ranveer Singh Alauddin Khilji's as he got closer to his triumph over Chittor.
