In a heartbreaking news, renowned actor Pankaj Dheer who was known for his role of Karna, passed away at the age of 68. The news of his death was confirmed by Dheer’s old friend, colleague, and CINTAA member Amit Behl. Reports claim that Pankaj had been battling cancer for a long time. Though the actor fought it throughout, the disease relapsed a few months ago, and as a result, his health deteriorated. Furthermore, the actor was scheduled for surgery related to the disease.
The Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) issued an official statement on Tuesday confirming the news of Dheer’s passing. The statement read, “With profound grief and deep sorrow, we inform you of the passing of our Trust’s erstwhile Chairman and CINTAA’s former Hon. General Secretary, Shri Pankaj Dheer ji, on 15th October 2025. The cremation will be held today at 4:30 pm, next to Pawan Hans, Vile Parle (W), Mumbai.”
Pankaj Dheer first gained fame when he played the role of Karna in BR Chopra’s “Mahabharata” in 1988. His role became so popular that audiences still remember him by that name. He subsequently worked in popular serials like Chandrakanta, Yug, and The Great Maratha, as well as several Bollywood films.
He earned a substantial amount from acting during his long career. According to a report on primeworld.com, he charged around Rs 60,000 per episode. He also played small but memorable roles in films like Sadhak, Badshah, and Soldiers.

Coming to business ventures, Pankaj Dheer, along with his brother, established Vijay Studioza, a recording and production studio in Mumbai’s Jogeshwari area.
