Popular comic book artist, Juan Gimenez, passed away after suffering from the coronavirus. The 76-year-old Argentine artist was known for contributing to Heavy Metal animated movies of the ’80s. As published in an Argentine newspaper named La Nacion, Gimenez had been hospitalised since March 22 after he returned from a trip to Spain. It is believed that the senior comic artist had contracted the virus during his trip. He is the first comic industry professional to have passed away after many musicians and actors who lost their lives due to COVID-19 like Manu Dibango, Floyd Cardoz and Joe Diffie among others. Juan Gimenez was most recognised for his work in The Metabarons that was written by filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky. His other notable works include Metal Hurlant and L’Eternauta, Time Paradox and The City. The popular comic artist was more recognised in Europe than in the United States.
