It’s been more than three month to Pratyusha Banerjee’s death and the police are yet to draw a conclusion whether it was a case of murder or suicide. Her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh is the primary suspect in the case and has been booked under abetment to suicide charges after friends and family members accused him of torturing her. Now, a chargesheet of around 1,011 pages has been filed against Rahul by the Borivili court. The chargesheet includes a list of statements given by witnesses and friends and family members of Pratyusha. Additionally, it has records of phone conversations, bank account statements, forensic findings and hospital reports. Police are so far banking upon call records and forensic reports as they highly hint on Rahul’s foul play in the case. Based on their finding, Rahul has now been charged with assault and intimidation charges in addition to abetment to suicide. Additionally, the chargesheet has statements of around 40 people who knew Pratyusha and Rahul. One of the witnesses includes Kamya Punjabi, her close friend and actor. In her statement, Punjabi had revealed that she visited Pratyusha’s flat in 2015 on her birthday and felt Rahul is not a good person. She also added that the telly star had called her while she was in Delhi and they decided to meet soon. However, Pratyusha had killed herself before she arrived in Mumbai.
Leena Dias, an event organizer, has mentioned that Pratyusha called her on the day of her death at 3 am. The chargesheet also includes a statement of Rahul’s ex-girlfriend, Saloni Sharma who was accused of assaulting Pratyusha at her home. Sharma in her statement revealed that she went to Pratyusha’s residence to demand the money Rahul owed to her but had to retaliate after the couple hit her. And her attack on Pratyusha was just as a rebound.

Additionally, it has excerpts from Soma Banerjee’s (Pratyusha’s mother) statement are also included in the chargesheet. Soma’s quote includes, “In 2010, Pratyusha came to Mumbai with her father and got a role in Balika Vadhu, the show that catapulted her to fame. In September 2013, she bagged a reality TV show and was paid Rs 35 lakh. In June 2015, she met Rahul, who claimed to own properties in Mumbai and Ranchi, and two production houses. In October 2015, Rahul vacated his Versova home and started living with us in Kandivli. He and Pratyusha got an offer to appear jointly as a couple in a reality TV show. But Rahul would fight with Pratyusha and suspected her of being in touch with her former boyfriend.”
She also revealed that Rahul told her daughter that her parents didn’t have any income and were thriving on the telly star’s savings. Upset with his statements, Pratyusha’s parents decided to shift back to their hometown in Jamshedpur. The distressed parents in fact accused Rahul of misusing Pratyusha’s money. This chargesheet should apparently bring some relief to Pratyusha’s parents who have been trying hard to get justice for their daughter.
