Bollywood’s veteran actor, Nana Patekar, has been in news off late. He has taken special effort to help farmers hit by drought in several parts of Maharashtra. He has teamed up with Marathi actor Makrand Anaspure to start an NGO NAAM Foundation to help farmers in drought-hit parts of the state and widows of the ones who have already committed suicide. As the media is leaving no stones unturned to cover every angle of Pratyusha Banerjee’s suicide case, Nana requests them to shift their focus to something more important. The ace actor thinks media should offer more coverage to famer suicides that is a serious concern affecting the country. The actor was reported saying, “The girl (Pratyusha) dying was most unfortunate. But it is being highlighted day after day in the media. What about farmers who kill themselves? The Bollywood actor through his non-governmental organization aims to work for the betterment of farmers in the drought-prone areas. His NGO has received a donation of more than Rs 6 crores in 2 weeks, which is incredible. Following the veteran star’s steps, Akshay Kumar & Aamir Khan have extended a helping hand for the matter too. While Aamir has adopted two villages, Akshay has come forward to offers a whopping amount of Rs 50 lakh.
