Controversies surrounding Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat refuse to die down. Despite getting a clearance from the CBFC, the film is still not getting a clearance from a few states. This is why, the producers of Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh’s Padmaavat have decided to move to the Supreme Court. The makers decided this as the film’s business is likely to suffer after getting banned in four states in the country. The apex court is all set to have a meeting for Padmaavat tomorrow in this regard. A bench comprising chief justice Dipak Misra and justices A.M. Khanwilkar and D.Y. Chandrachud considered the submission of the counsel of the producer that the matter be heard urgently in view of the ban on its release by various state governments. Rajasthan was the first state to ban Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film. Soon Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana too decided to not screen Padmaavat in the state. Reports also stated that Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh governments were banning the film. However, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adtiyanath seemed non-committal about it The film is all set to finally release on January 25 along with Akshay Kumar’s PadMan which also stars Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in key roles.
