With the release of Pushpa: The Rise, which was directed by Sukumar, Allu Arjun shot to stardom back in 2021. The movie was a huge blockbuster in the Covid era, and Pushpa: The Rule, the follow-up, is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. The Pushpa sequel has been officially postponed, and Allu Arjun, the lead actor, has revealed the new release date. The action thriller, which was supposed to be released on August 15, will now open in theatres on December 6, 2024. Interestingly, the Pushpa 2 will have a box office clash with Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Chhava.’
Allu Arjun was seen in a brown shirt over a grey t-shirt and a matching bandana over his head. With a sword slung menacingly over his shoulder, he was holding something. Alongside his look from Pushpa 2: The Rule poster on X (formerly known as Twitter), the caption on the post read, “#Pushpa2TheRule in cinemas from December 6th, 2024.”

The production team also released a lengthy message in which they explained that the remaining filming and following post-production work are the reasons behind the release date adjustment. The note read – Pushpa 2 The Rule is one of the most anticipated Indian films. Following the immense success of Pushpa: The Rise, our responsibility to deliver excellence has increased significantly. We have been tirelessly working to complete the movie and release it on time. However, due to the remaining shoot and subsequent post-production work, we will not be releasing the film on August 15th, 2024. This decision is made in the best interests of the film, the audience, and all stakeholders. Our goal is to provide a memorable experience on the big screen without compromising quality.

The eagerly anticipated Pushpa: The Rise sequel will now compete at the box office with Vicky Kaushal’s period historical drama Chhava. Rashmika Mandanna is, coincidentally, the leading lady in Chhava as well. Vicky and Rashmika are collaborating for the first time in Laxman Utekar’s historical drama, which is based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. In the movie, Rashmika plays Yesubai Bhonsale, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s wife.
In Pushpa: The Rise, Rashmika Mandanna played Allu Arjun’s love interest Srivalli, while Allu Arjun essayed the lead Pushpa Raj. With his introduction after the first movie, Fahadh Faasil hinted at a considerably larger part in the follow-up. Samantha Ruth Prabhu also made an appearance with her dance number ‘Oo Antava Oo Oo Antava.’
