Pushpa 2: The Rule released its trailer earlier this week and it instantly broke the internet. The trailer garnered 102 million views across all languages within 24 hours on YouTube, making it the third movie trailer across the country to cross the 100-million mark in a day. Now, ahead of the sequel’s debut, the audience will see the OG Pushpa Raj on the big screen.
The filmmakers have announced a theatrical run for the first installment of the movie, before the release of Pushpa 2. The teaser for Pushpa: The Rise, which originally debuted in 2021, has been unveiled on Goldmines Telefilms’ official X handle, revealing that the film will be back in theatres on November 22, 2024. This announcement has sparked heightened curiosity among fans, who are eagerly counting down to the re-release.
Following the trailer launch, the audience is eager to watch the film, which is set to hit theatres on December 5, 2024. Early reactions to the trailer suggest that Allu Arjun’s return is going to break several records and make a significant mark at the box office. The film stars Allu Arjun in the titular role, alongside Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna, Jagapathi Babu, Dhananjaya, Rao Ramesh, Sunil and Anasuya Bharadwaj in crucial roles.
Reportedly, the movie has already collected Rs 1000 crore before its release. In Telugu states, including Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, and in North India, the theatrical rights have been sold for about Rs 375 crores. In the rest of the country and the foreign markets, these rights have fetched the makers around Rs 100 crores and Rs 125 crores, respectively. To conclude, the movie has collected Rs 600 crores from its theatrical rights already.
Pushpa: The Rise made a significant impact at the box office, crossing 350 crores globally. On its opening day, the movie netted ₹44 crores in the country with a gross of around ₹53 crores and had set a post-pandemic record for day one. The film featured Allu Arjun as Pushpa Raj, a coolie who rises in a syndicate that smuggles red sandalwood, along with Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna, Dhananjaya, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, Sunil and Ajay Ghosh.
