Ajay Devgn’s latest outing Raid has begun its box office journey on an impressive note. The film turns out to be the second-highest opening weekend this year after Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat. Raj Kumar Gupta’s film Raid, starring Ajay Devgn, Ileana D’Cruz, and Saurabh Shukla, has minted Rs 47.27 crore at the box office and its success is another proof that Indian audiences are hungry for issue-based movies.

According to Film Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh, Ajay Devgn’s film managed to earn Rs 6.26 crore on Monday, thus, taking its total collection to Rs 47.27 crore in four days. Earlier today, Taran Adarsh took to his micro-blogging site to share the official collection of the film. He wrote, “#Raid is SUPER-STRONG on Mon… An indicator that the film will sustain very well on weekdays… Current trending suggests ₹ 64 cr [+/-] Week 1, which is EXCELLENT for a non-masala film… Fri 10.04 cr, Sat 13.86 cr, Sun 17.11 cr, Mon 6.26 cr. Written by Ritesh Shah and helmed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the film is inspired by the real-life I-T raids that were conducted by the officers of the Indian Revenue Service in the 1980s. The film is bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak, while the music for the film is scored by Amit Trivedi, Tanishk Bagchi Bollywood Life’s film critic Ankita Chaurasia had mentioned in her review, “Raid keeps you riveted throughout. You are always kept guessing as to what will happen next, which is a great thing for a film like this.” Watch this space for further updates.
