In an exclusive conversation with India.com, Rajat Kapoor spoke about his many years in the industry, how Bollywood films can be restrictive and why actors should not push the boundaries of social media.

Kapoor has played several characters and written even more. When asked if he thought that new roles were being written for him, he said, “no roles are written for me.” Kapoor enjoys being a filmmaker more and finds his solace.

Kapoor has added some of the best works in the hall of Indian cinema from ‘Ankhon Dekhi’, to ‘Bheja Fry’ to ‘Drisyam,’ but he believes that OTT has furnished the opportunity and furnished a ground for several actors to claim their deserved fame. He said, “ Kitne actors hain jaise Manoj Bajpayee, Pankaj Tripathi jinhe shayad aise roles nahi offer hoote jaise aaj ho rhe hai. Films are restrictive. Woh bas ek type ke actors, ek type ke stars ke liye banai jaati hain or kuch ache actors ko shayad mauke na milte hon…”

Here is why Rajat Kapoor Stays away From Social Media

In a world where everyone is making their social media presence seen, the 63-year-old actor believes in staying away from social media. In the contemporary age that is helmed by digital diligence, Kapoor does not indulge in the limelight of clicks and likes.

Even for films and web shows, now actors don’t have to wait for the day to pass to read the reviews in the paper, it is just a matter of a few hours and people express their honest opinions on the internet. Speaking on it, Rajat Kapoor confessed how he is not on social media and does not read a lot of reviews of his work. When asked if he believes it is important to be socially relevant in this age he answered, “ I am absolutely the opposite. I think people have become a little too familiar. Mujeh nhi dekhna dusre actors ko nachte hue…pehle ke time mai bhi, Dev sahib ka uss zaman mai ek aura tha…”
