We all woke up to absolute shock and disbelief today. The news of the yesteryear’s legend Sridevi’s sudden demise has left legions of fans and the film industry shocked and heartbroken. Bollywood’s first female superstar Sridevi died late Saturday night reportedly due to a cardiac arrest in Dubai, where the actress had gone to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding along with husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi; while Boney Kapoor, Khushi decided to return post the wedding, Sridevi chose to stay back. Well, Janhvi couldn’t even be there for the wedding owing to her shoot schedule. Addressing press conference on the death of his dear friend Sridevi, Rajinikanth expressed his grief and shock. While condolences have been pouring in ever since the news of her demise has come in, Sridevi’s co-stars in 1976’s Tamil hit Moondru Mudichu (her first film as a female lead) Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, were among the many that have flooded the social media. While Kamal tweeted, “Have witnessed Sridevi’s life from an adolescent teenager to the magnificent lady she became. Her stardom was well deserved. Many happy moments with her flash through my mind including the last time I met her. Sadma’s lullaby haunts me now. We’ll miss her,” Rajinikanth too wrote, “I’m shocked and very disturbed. I’ve lost a dear friend and the industry has lost a true legend. My heart goes out to her family and friends. The 54-year-old, who is survived by her husband – producer Boney Kapoor – and daughters Jhanvi and Khushi, will be brought back to India today and the funeral of superstar Sridevi is expected to take place in Mumbai today. The actress would have completed 50 years in Indian cinema this year, however, the last film she shot was Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero. On the professional front, Rajinikanth will next be seen in one of the much-awaited films of the year – 2.0, which also stars Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. Watch this space for further updates.
