According to an old interview with K. Balachander, Rajinikanth went to Sridevi’s house during its Griha Pravesh (housewarming) ceremony to share his intentions. However, a sudden power outage plunged the house into darkness. Seeing this as a bad omen, Rajinikanth left without proposing. Although he didn’t marry Sridevi, Rajinikanth remained friends with her.
