Actors Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Sanon have teamed up after Bareilly Ki Barfi for yet another light-hearted comedy by Dinesh Vijan‘s Maddock Films. The two actors are going to feature in Vijan’s yet-to-be-titled family drama that also stars Paresh Rawal and Dimple Kapadia in important roles. The film is the story of a couple who adopt parents but things don’t turn the way they expected and the ‘adopted’ parents create havoc in their lives. So much so that their marriage also seems badly affected. The film is being directed by Abhishek Jain who has helmed successful Gujarati films and has also assisted many prominent Hindi film directors like Subhash Ghai, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ram Madhvani. Vijan spoke to Mumbai Mirror in his latest interview and confirmed the news. He said he was in talks with Kriti and Rajkummar for another film that didn’t work out and one day when he suddenly got this idea over a cup of coffee with the two stars, they instantly came on board. He was quoted saying, “That project wasn’t working out, so, one day, over a cup of coffee, I sketched out this idea to them and they jumped at it. Maddock Films is known to back stories that belong to real-life situations and are set in small towns, exploring the protagonist’s mindset of dealing with these situations. Vijan also highlighted how his team has always been giving opportunities to first-time directors. Most of the films produced under the banner were directed by debutants – Bala, Stree (Amar Kaushik), Luka Chuppi, Mimi (Laxman Utekar), Roohi Afzana (Hardik Mehta) and now Abhishek Jain for this new entertainer. The producer added that this film is going to be loved by parents and kids and it’s the kind of story that all of them can watch together. The film goes on the floors in Delhi from mid-March and is expected to hit the screens by the end of this year. Watch out!
